By accessing this website or engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use our website or services. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time, and the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
Life Stories Preserved LLC provides biography and memoir writing services. We work with individuals and families to capture, preserve, and share personal life stories in written form. Our services include personal interviews, research, writing, editing, and producing finished books and memoirs.
Each project is unique and tailored to the client's needs. The specific scope, timeline, and deliverables for your project will be discussed and agreed upon before work begins.
Project pricing varies depending on the scope, length, and complexity of each biography or memoir. We will provide you with a clear estimate before any work begins.
Deposit: A deposit of one-third (1/3) of the total project cost is required before work begins. This deposit secures your place in our schedule and allows us to begin the interview and research process.
Final payment: The remaining balance is due upon delivery of the final proof, before the book goes to print or final delivery.
Payment terms and any additional details will be outlined in your project agreement. We are happy to discuss payment arrangements to accommodate your needs.
Your story belongs to you. The client retains full ownership of their life story, personal materials, photographs, and the content of their biography or memoir.
Portfolio use: With the client's written permission, Life Stories Preserved may use brief excerpts from completed projects for our portfolio, website, or promotional materials. We will never share or publish excerpts without your explicit consent.
Our work product: The writing, editing, and design work we produce for your project becomes yours upon full payment. Until full payment is received, Life Stories Preserved retains rights to the work product.
To ensure the best possible outcome for your biography or memoir, we ask that clients:
Provide accurate information: The stories, facts, dates, and details you share with us should be accurate to the best of your knowledge. We rely on the information you provide to create your book.
Provide timely feedback: Reviewing drafts and providing feedback in a timely manner helps us keep your project on schedule. Significant delays in feedback may affect the project timeline.
Make materials available: If your project involves photographs, documents, or other personal materials, please make them available as needed during the project.
Communicate openly: If you have concerns, preferences, or changes at any point during the project, please let us know. Open communication helps us deliver the best result.
Life Stories Preserved LLC provides its services in good faith and with professional care. However, we are not liable for:
Inaccuracies in the final product that result from incorrect information provided by the client.
Delays caused by circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to illness, natural disasters, or third-party vendor issues (such as printing delays).
Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our website or services.
Our total liability for any claim related to our services shall not exceed the amount paid by the client for the specific project in question.
If you need to cancel a project after work has begun, please contact us as soon as possible. The initial deposit covers the time and effort already invested in your project and is generally non-refundable. We will work with you fairly to resolve any cancellation on a case-by-case basis.
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York. Any disputes arising from these terms or our services shall be resolved in the courts of Westchester County, New York.
